i5/OS
and AIX connections Educational
institutions may test the connection to the systems here
based upon their need for
resources in the teaching environment. Please be advised
that these connections have limited authority and are
monitored
to ensure the activity
does not violate acceptable testing.
Connection
using Host on Demand:
Log on to Host On Demand using the
user id and password of "systest" "systest". The
server will .submit
two security documents for your approval and may take a
moment the
first time you connect.to
this service. To proceed in the login sequence please
answer yes
to these. You may select the button to always
trust in order not to see these the next time you
connect to the system.
Host
On Demand uses ports 23 and 8999. If you have a firewall
these may present and issue when connecting. If so,
please contact you administrative IT department if
on your school's LAN for assistance. If you are connecting
from home please check your system security to allow
these ports through your firewall.

Connection to i5/OS There
are two access methods available for you to test. The first is Host on
Demand which will allow you to establish a 5250 green screen connection
via web hosted sessions. The second method demonstrates connection via
Access for Web and creates a GUI Web interface for many of the File Utility,
Database, and 5250 operations.
When you Logon to Host on Demand using the user ID
of "systest" you will be presented with two icons. double click
on the i5/OS icon to start a 5250 session. Once you have a sign on screen
use the
same user ID and password to logon to the system.
Host on Demand Link
You may also test the Access for Web connection to
the system. Using the link Access
For Web and the same user ID you can connect using this product.
Please note that System i Access for Web is running on port
10076. You may need to adjust your Firewall for access.

Connection to AIX
If you are wanting to test the
connection to the remote AIX partition you
can use the following procedure to do so.
Similar to the i5/OS connection you may use Host on Demand
to facilitate the session. When you logon to Host on Demand simply select
the AIX connection icon to begin.
Host on Demand Link
The user Id used for Host on Demand is the same user ID (
systest ) and password you will enter for the AIX terminal logon.
Please remember that the profile has very limited authority
in the system and is used primarily used to get a feel for the remote system
response. Please limit your time on the system when using this profile. If
you require more extensive testing of the AIX environment please contact
